Welcome!
Crabtowne Skiers is the premier Annapolis ski, sports, and activities
club,
and has been providing exciting activities to our members for
over thirty years.
Founded in 1971
as the "Annapolis Ski Club", we have been active
since then as the "Crabtowne Ski Club
™"
and as "Crabtowne Skiers
™".
Crabtowne year-round activities span a a wide range of
interests...
Not just a ski club, we also sponsor
activities in a number of other areas. We have active committees
working
on activities in the following areas:
- Skiing of
course, both downhill and cross-country ... Eastern/Western/Foreign
- Watersports
including sailing, power boating, and other watersports
activities;
- Biking with
both local and weekend getaways:
- Hiking at
many levels from easy strolls to some strenuous scrambles;
- Dancing
including both fancy and informal dances, and lesson series;
- Activities
that don't fall into the above categories include a wide
variety of social events including dinners out; pub nights; parties;
cultural events, and various other recreational activities.
Crabtowne has a long history of doing pretty much anything that our
members think will be fun:
past activities have included the areas listed above as well as golf,
tennis, volleyball, touring as a group in various parts of the world,
white water rafting, canoeing, hang gliding, flying sailplanes, hot air
ballooning, and attending barnstorming air shows. If any member thinks
there is something fun (and reasonably legal) that the club ought to
do, see a Board member or an appropriate committee
chairperson and see if we can get the ball rolling. Bring us your good
ideas... let's start new
traditions or reinvigorate old ones.
Crabtowne Skiers is an affiliate of the Blue Ridge Ski Council
(BRSC). The Blue Ridge Ski Council sanctions certain ski
trips (and some non-ski trips) which member clubs have opened to skiers
from all other member clubs. As affiliates
of the BRSC, Crabtowne members may participate in sanctioned ski trips
run by
other BRSC-affiliated ski clubs, without paying additional membership
fees to the
other BSRC club.
